FOUNDATION OF FAITH!

THE BIBLE

THE WONDERS OF CREATION

Over the past several weeks, in our Foundation of Faith series, we have been looking at the Bible. We have seen that it really does matter that we believe that the Bible is the authoritative, infallible, inspired Words of God in all matters of faith and practice. We have seen that the Bible can be trusted, that it is true. We have seen that when the Bible speaks on scientific things, even though it is not a book on science, that it is 100% accurate in what it is saying. In fact, it tells us things long before science recognized these things. We have seen that when the Bible speaks of medical issues that it does so with 100% accuracy and long before these things were discovered by man.  That is because the Creator knows all things and He has told us these things so we can know Him, know that there is a God and then, through His Word, through the Bible we can know who this God is and what He desires of us!

This morning we are going to look at the wonders of creation and what the Bible has to say regarding these things. Before we focus on this subject, let me say this. When we read the Bible do we believe it is the Word of God? I hope we do because, as we have seen in previous studies, these are the Words of God breathed from the mouth of God to us.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in a letter that he wrote to his brother-in-law, had this to say regarding the Word of God, the Bible. And keep in mind that his brother-in-law, Rudiger Schleicher was a liberal in regards to his theology and Bonhoeffer was very much a conservative. This is what he wrote to his brother-in-law,

First of all I will confess quite simply – I believe that the Bible alone is the answer to all our questions, and that we need only to ask repeatedly and a little humbly, in order to receive this answer. One cannot simply read the Bible, like other books. One must be prepared really to enquire of it. Only thus will it reveal itself. Only if we expect from it the ultimate answer, shall we receive it. That is because in the Bible God speaks to us. And one cannot simply think about God in one’s own strength, one has to enquire of him. Only if we seek him, will he answer us. Of course it is also possible to read the Bible like any other book, that is to say from the point of view of textual criticism, etc., there is nothing to be said against that. Only that that is not the method which will reveal to us the heart of the  Bible, but only the surface, just as we do not grasp the words of someone we love by taking them to bits, but by simply receiving them, so that for days they go on lingering in our minds, simply because they are the words of a person we love; and just as these words reveal more and more of the person who said them as we go on, like Mary, “pondering them in our heart,” so it will be with the words of the Bible, as though in them this God were speaking to us who loves us and does not will to leave us along with our questions, only so shall we learn to rejoice in the Bible. . . .

If it is I who determine where God is to be found, then I shall always find a God who corresponds to me in some way, who is obliging, who is connected with my own nature. But if God determines where he is to be found, then it will be in a place which is not immediately pleasing to my nature and which is not at all congenial to me. This place is the Cross of Christ. And whoever would find him must go to the foot of the Cross, as the Sermon on the Mount commands. This is not according to our nature at all, it is entirely contrary to it. But this is the message of the Bible, not only in the New Testament but also in the Old Testament. . . .

And I would like to tell you now quite personally: since I have learnt to read the Bible in this way – and this has not been for so very long – it becomes every day more wonderful to me. I read it in the morning and the evening, often during the day as well, and every day I consider a text which I have chosen for the whole week, and try to sink deeply into it, so as really to hear what it is saying. I know that without this I could not live properly any longer.

- Eric Metaxas, Bonhoeffer Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, pp. 136-137

That truly is the reason we are taking our time on the subject of the Bible. That you would love to read it and meditate upon it and grow as God is speaking to your heart as you read this love letter from God to you and to me! You see, this is not just a book, it is the Word of God and thus, we can never exhaust what God is trying to tell us through His Word. I am sure you have found this to be true in your own life. You have read a Scripture many times over and then, all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit opens it up to you and you clearly see what God is saying.  May we have that kind of love for God’s Word and learn to not only believe it, trust it but apply it to our lives.

This morning, as I have said, we are going to focus on the wonders of creation and specifically the creation of man. In Psalm139:13-18 the Psalmist tells us about God, For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Here we see some powerful statements about our God who is actively involved in our creation.  We see very Cleary that as David speaks of God he shows us the omnipotence of God, that He is all-powerful, and He does this by looking at the creation of human life. And we must understand this truth, that God is all-powerful, that Satan himself is a created being and has no power over God. It is as Psalm 115:3 tells us, But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. I think that is very clear!

And don’t miss the point here. David is saying that the all-powerful God loves us so much, cares for us so deeply, that He is involved in our creation, as the 23 chromosomes from the sperm unite with the 23 chromosomes of the egg, bringing all the information together that is needed for us to grow, all encoded in the DNA. At that moment of conception, all that makes us who we are is there in the DNA. Our height, our looks, all that we are and God is right there forming us in the womb, weaving us together in a sense! And thus, when you study life, you can’t help but see how fearfully and wonderfully we are made!

The late Dr. A. E. Wilder-Smith in his book, The Scientific Alternative to Neo-Darwinian Evolutionary Theory demonstrates the absurdity of evolution on the basis of one great reality and that one great reality is the encoded information in the DNA of living organisms. You see, every living organism has in it DNA and DNA is genetic material and on that genetic material in every living thing is a code and that is an operative code and that living organism, whether you’re talking about a cell or whether you’re talking about a man and everything in between, all of that operation of every living thing is dependent on that encoded information. And listen to this, every different living thing has a completely different code.

And think about this for a minute. In recent years we have discovered that the genetic programs of say higher biological organisms consist of about one-thousand-million bits of information. Did you get that? I said One-thousand-million bits of information in one living organism! And here is the amazing thing, all that information that is encoded in that living organism determines the nature, the growth, the development and the death of billions of cells in that living organism. And we are told that this just happened by random chance? Give me a break! This information did not just come out of thin air but our God put it together for each of us as David has told us!

Dr. A. E. Wilder-Smith writes, “Assuming that original primeval form of life was a kind of an amoeba, where did it obtain the almost infinite number of bits of information required to be stored in its DNA storage and retrieval system? In order to transform the amoeba-type of cell to a mammal, a primate, an octopus or a bee, new bits of holistic information are required. Neither the primeval amoeba-type of cell nor the inorganic matter of which it is constructed contains such highly specialized holistic information which is necessary to transform the alleged amoeba into say an anthropoid ape. Is it legitimate to assume that such incredible amounts of information arose spontaneously out of thin air by pure chance?” That would be absolutely ridiculous! We are fearfully and wonderfully made by our God!

And we see David telling us that God has formed David and us in the secret places, where no one can see. And he is speaking, of course, of his mother’s womb. And yes, even though he didn’t look like much, at the point of conception he was alive and not a piece of tissue. And before David even took his first breath outside the womb, God had planed his life for him.

In Jeremiah 1:5 we read of God speaking to Jeremiah and saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. My point is this; God is saying that life begins at conception. Let’s not destroy that gift through abortion, for it is murder! Life does begin at conception no matter what the world may say!

Now some Christians may feel that God does not have time for them, He is too busy or He just doesn’t care for them. That is false. In fact, listen again to verses 17 and 18 of Psalm 139. We are told, How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. That is pretty amazing to me and I hope to you. God does care for you and His thoughts are upon you even though your thoughts may not be upon Him!

Some have estimated that the number of grains of sand on this earth is 1025 power. That means if God were to think of us billions of times a second, He would do so for several thousand years. And I think the point is this, God is not distant, but He loves us and is concerned about us. He knows the little things about us, like how many hairs we have upon our heads, and if He is that concerned about the little things, how much more for life’s difficult situations!

It is as David said in Psalm 40:5, Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. Imagine, with all the billions of people living today, we are all important to Him. And I love this verse in Jeremiah 29:11 which says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made and from conception and all through our life God is working with us, in us, He is thinking about us!

Now we can look at all of creation and see how complex life is and that there had to be a designer and a creator, there had to be a God, but our focus this morning is man, like I have said. What I want you to see is that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Then why is there death in the world? Why are there diseases in the world? It is really very simple, sin brought about the death process and when Adam was created, everything was very good. Once he sinned, not so good! You see, we are not evolving, we are devolving you might say. Adam was perfect and now, with sin in this world, we see these bodies getting sicker, more diseases, and-so-on. That is what sin does!

But make no mistake about it; the human body is a masterful piece of work. Our God knew what He was doing as we will see. And even though many might try to put it down, feel that God came up short, keep in mind that what we have today is the result of the affects of 6,000 years of sin! So let’s look at the human body and see what God has done. And as we do, my desire is to show you that we can trust God’s Word, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made!

THE HUMAN BODY – GOD’S MASTERPIECE

1.  THE BRAIN

We are going to begin looking at the human brain and as we do, as we look at several aspects of the human body, you will see that it truly is God’s masterpiece. Now, in regards to the human brain, the late Isaac Asimov said that it is “. . . the most complex and orderly arrangement of matter in the universe.” And yet, he did not believe in God but random chance happenings that brought all this together!

Our brains, which weigh some 3 pounds, is composed of 100 billion neurons each connected to about ten-thousand other neurons in the most complicated arrangement known to man. There are 1200 trillion connections in the human brain, and not by random chance! And as we understand this we are then told that this brain evolved out of nothing, it just happened to come together through random chance happenings? Give me a break. That is faith, it is not science! In regards to the brain, listen to what Dr. David DeWitt wrote,

Unlike any man-made computer, the brain is made of living cells that must constantly change as we acquire new skills and information. It appears that the physical architecture of the brain itself changes in response to our experiences. Such a marvelous design makes it possible for us to grow and adapt to our changing environment. . . .

Yet acquiring skills would be impossible if our brains were “hardwired” at birth. To sort through all the data that our body’s sensors record, the brain has been designed to change. Our brain is not a computer, made of solid-state wires and silicon wafers. It is three pounds of living, growing cells that constantly form new connections and change old ones.

- Dr. David DeWitt, Brain, Shaped By Experiences

Amazing isn’t it! The nervous system is composed of two parts. There is the brain and the spinal cord which make up the central nervous system. And there is the peripheral nervous system which consists of nerves connecting other parts of the body to center. Now, through a variety of electrical and chemical processes, the nervous system is used to control the functioning of the entire human body. Think about this for a minute. I am going to tell my left arm to raise up and thus, the brains sends electrical and chemical impulses to the nerve fibers in the peripheral nervous system and guess what, my left arm raises!

Also, what happens to the information from the physical world, how does it get to our brain? Through the five senses that God has given to us: touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. Thus, these five senses have different kinds of receptor cells that change into electrical energy singles that go to our brain.

In regards to this think of the neuron as a switch that is either turned on or off depending on the signal it receives. Once this neuron has been given a strong enough stimulus, it is turned on. Normally the frequency of electrical pulse transmission ranges between 10 and 500 impulses per second. And this is only a small component of the interconnected circuitry of the nervous system. In fact, Dr. Werner Gitt, an information scientist wrote, “If it were possible to describe [the nervous system] as a circuit diagram, [with each neuron] represented by as single pinhead, such a circuit diagram would require an area of several square kilometers [7 square kilometers equals 2.7 miles squared] . . . [it would be] several hundred times more complex than the entire global telephone network.”

And it is not that all these parts are there, they must work together, there must be co-ordination between the neurons. And thus, the computations required for such co-ordination are enormous. R. M. Restak wrote, “There may be from ten trillion to one hundred trillion synapses [i.e. connections between neurons] in the brain, and each one operates as a tiny calculator that tallies signals arriving as electrical impulses.” That is how messages to and from the brain are relayed!

Let me give you an illustration to show you how incredible this really is. Imagine a baseball player standing up at the plate. The batter stands at home plate some 60 feet 6 inches from the pitcher. Now as he waits at home plate for the pitcher to throw the ball his brain is working. As the ball comes to him, traveling at some 90 to 100 miles per hour, he has to decide what kind of pitch it is, if he should swing and how fast he should swing and when he should swing all in less than ½ second and more precisely, 0.412 seconds! (A 100 mph ball travels at 146.7 feet per second and home plate is 60 feet 6 inches from the pitcher). That is incredible, all the calculations that have to be made, the decisions that have to be made and yet, it is done or we would not have a very exciting baseball game! You see, even as you look at just the brain, you can see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made!

2.  THE EYE

Now the human eye is amazing and yet, many evolutionists believe it just evolved over time. I think they can explain it better than I can and you tell me if this is science or this is faith. Zoologist Dan-Erik Nilsson in his article Evolution of the Eye shows how the complex human eye could evolved through natural selection acting on small variations. This is what he wrote,

Here’s how some scientists think some eyes may have evolved: The simple light-sensitive spot on the skin of some ancestral creature gave it some tiny survival advantage, perhaps allowing it to evade a predator. Random changes then created a depression in the light-sensitive patch, a deepening pit that made “vision” a little sharper. At the same time, the pit’s opening gradually narrowed, so light entered through a small aperture, like a pinhole camera.

Every change had to confer a survival advantage, no matter how slight. Eventually, the light-sensitive spot evolved into a retina, the layer of cells and pigment at the back of the human eye. Over time a lens formed at the front of the eye. It could have arisen as a double-layered transparent tissue containing increasing amounts of liquid that gave it the convex curvature of the human eye.

In fact, eyes corresponding to every stage in this sequence have been found in existing living species. The existence of this range of less complex light-sensitive structures supports scientists’ hypotheses about how complex eyes like ours could evolve. The first animals with anything resembling an eye lived about 550 million years ago. And, according to one scientist’s calculations, only 364,000 years would have been needed for a camera-like eye to evolve from a light-sensitive patch.

- Dan-Erik Nilsson, Evolution of the Eye

First of all, this sensitive spot on this unknown creature that gave him an advantage to evade its predators is foolish. I mean, think about it. The predators had no eyes so how can he be a predator? They too are blindly going through life trying to survive. Secondly, when you look at the complexity of life, it is far more than just a camera and yet, we would never think a camera just evolved over long periods of time, would we? Of course not, that we be foolish and so too is this idea that the eye just evolved from a light sensitive area on a creature. Also, please understand that we do not have intermediary stages of the eye in existence today, that is just wrong. Think about it, unless the eye is fully formed and connected to the brain, it is useless! I have worked in a hospital for 30 years and I have seen some people with some very thin and fragile skin on their arms and they were not seeing out of it!

Let me show you how complex the human eye is. When a baby is conceived in its mother’s womb all the genetic information that will govern the eye are there. Each eye has one million nerve endings that begin growing through the flesh toward the baby’s brain.  Also, simultaneously, a million optic nerves will begin growing through the flesh towards the baby’s eye. And, each of those million optic nerves must find and match up to its mate to enable sight to exist. Random chance happenings? I don’t think so!

And think about this for a minute. The human eye has the ability to transmit to the brain over 1½ million messages simultaneously! And please understand that we are just scratching the surface, the eye is far more complex than what I am sharing with you.

If you remember from school, the retina at the back of the eye contains a dense area of rods and cones that just gather information and interpret information that comes into the eye. The retina contains over one hundred and thirty-seven million nerve connections which the brain uses to evaluate data in its attempt to interpret the scene in front of your eyes.

Not only that but the image we receive in our eye is “upside-down” but the cellular structure in our eye reverses the image to “right-side up” within the eye before sending it to the brain. The eye then will transmit the corrected image at three hundred miles an hour to the brain and the brain takes these electrical impulses and converts them back into the image that we are looking at!

And yet, there are those that will tell you it just happened you see, I mean how lucky can we be that everything just fell into place! So our brain formed without the eyes and then the eyes formed and presto, I can see! Really?

Let me share with you a few words from Jerry Bergman in his article, The Human Retina Shows Evidence of Good Design. He wrote,

It is often claimed that the human retina is poorly designed because it appears to be placed in the eye backwards. This design requires that light travel through the nerves and blood vessels in order to reach the photoreceptor cells which are located behind the eye’s wiring. This design also requires the nerves to pass through the retina in an area that lacks photoreceptors, producing a blind spot, the focus of this paper.

One reason the blind spot is not a problem is that the brain uses information from the retina only to construct an image and does an excellent job of dealing with the many “blind spots” such as shadows, reflection problems, dim light, and dirt on a person’s glasses. Furthermore, the blind spot is located in a region used only for peripheral vision to scan beyond a person’s main focus for areas of potential interest. . . .

The human retina is one of the most common examples of putative [supposed] poor design in both the popular and scientific literature. The claim is that the vertebrate eye is functionally suboptimal because the retina photoreceptors are oriented away from incoming light (Ayoub 1996, p. 19; Bergman 2000). This is alleged to be an example of poor design because, as Dawkins reasons, an engineer would naturally assume that the photocells would point towards the light, with their wires leading backwards towards the brain. He would laugh at any suggestion that the photocells might point away from the light, with their wires departing on the side nearest the light. Yet this is exactly what happens in all vertebrate retinas. Each photocell is, in effect, wired in backwards, with its wire sticking out on the side nearest the light. The wire has to travel over the surface of the retina, to a point where it dives through a hole in the retina (the so-called “blind spot”) to join the optic nerve (Dawkins 1986, p. 93). . . .

The blind spot, and poor retina design claims in general, are often raised by neo-Darwinists to argue against intelligent design (Peet 1999; Sarfati 1998, p. 33; Wieland 1996). Ainsworth and LePage call it the most famous flaw which is “a mistake whichever way you look at” it (Ainsworth and LePage 2007, p. 28). A review of research on the vertebrate retina indicates that the existing inverted design in vertebrates is superior to the verted design, even the system used by the most advanced cephalopods. New research has discovered that the retina has a complex neurological feedback system that improves contrast and sharpens edges without sacrificing shadow detail. (Jackman et al. 2011).

As a result, the human eye is superior to a camera at simultaneously capturing contrast while at the same time picking up faint details. Its design has been maximized for life in our environment and would no doubt function poorly in another environment such as that experienced by undersea bottom dwellers. The blind spot does not, even to a minor degree, interfere with vision effectiveness. This review supports Hamilton’s conclusion that instead of being a great disadvantage, or a “curse” or being incorrectly constructed, the inverted retina is a tremendous advance in function and design compared with the simple and less complicated verted arrangement.

One problem amongst many, for evolutionists, is to explain how this abrupt major retinal transformation from the verted type in invertebrates to the inverted vertebrate model came about as nothing in paleontology offers any support. (Hamilton 1985, p. 63)

Rather than being fired, our camera designer would no doubt be promoted for utilizing a less obvious, but a far more functional retina design. Gratitude rather than impertinence seems a more appropriate response to its ingenious design.

The Human Retina Shows Evidence of Good Design

       - Jerry Bergman, The Human Retina Shows Evidence of Good Design

So think about the eye and if you still believe that this just happened by random chance, then you probably still believe in the tooth fairy! And yet, many do deny the Creator and believe in evolution. One example is that of Dr. Harold Urey, who was a Nobel Prize winner for his research in chemistry. And listen to what he says regarding the impossibility of life forming by random chance and yet he still believes in evolution or life arising from non life spontaneously. He wrote, “All of us who study the origin of life find that the more we look into it, the more we feel that it is too complex to have evolved anywhere.”

That is an amazing statement if he just left it at that, but he can’t! He added these words, “We believe as an article of faith [notice he does not say science, but faith, it is a religion to him the evolutionary theory] that life evolved from dead matter on this planet. It is just that its complexity is so great, it is hard for us to imagine that it did.” Yes, it is hard to believe in the tooth fairy but some still do! Sorry, but we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator!

3.  THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

We are now going to look at the circulatory system and focus on the blood, the blood vessels and the heart. All are important and one without the other would make no sense. And yet, we are told to believe that all this happened by random chance, over millions of years but if one would fail then they all would fail and if they were not evolved fully formed and functional, they would be useless. So then, why would they evolve in the first place if there was no use for them unless they were fully formed and it is not just the blood or the blood vessels or the heart but it is the entire human body that needs to come together at the same time and it did because our Creator God created us that way!

First of all let’s look at the blood or what we find in the circulatory system.  Normally we see that 7-8% of human body weight is from blood.  In adults, this amounts to 4.5-6 quarts of blood.  This essential fluid carries out the critical functions of transporting oxygen and nutrients to our cells and getting rid of carbon dioxide, ammonia, and other waste products.  In addition, it plays a vital role in our immune system and in maintaining a relatively constant body temperature.  Blood is a highly specialized tissue composed of more than 4,000 different kinds of components.  Four of the most important ones are red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma.  All humans produce these blood components - there are no populational or regional differences.

The Red cells or erythrocytes normally make up 40-50% of the total blood volume.  They transport oxygen from the lungs to all of the living tissues of the body and carry away carbon dioxide.  The red cells are produced continuously in our bone marrow from stem cells at a rate of about 2-3 million cells per second.  Within this is what is known as Hemoglobin and Hemoglobin is the gas transporting protein molecule that makes up 95% of a red cell.  Each red cell has about 270,000,000 iron-rich hemoglobin molecules.  People who are anemic generally have a deficiency in red cells, and subsequently feel fatigued due to a shortage of oxygen.  The red color of blood is primarily due to oxygenated red cells.

Then there are the White cells or Leukocytes, and they exist in variable numbers and types but they make up a very small part of blood’s volume - normally only about 1% in healthy people.  Leukocytes are not limited to blood.  They occur elsewhere in the body as well, most notably in the spleen, liver, and lymph glands.  Most are produced in our bone marrow from the same kind of stem cells that produce red blood cells.  Others are produced in the thymus gland, which is at the base of the neck.  Some white cells (called lymphocytes) are the first responders for our immune system.  They seek out, identify, and bind to alien protein on bacteria, viruses, and fungi so that they can be removed.  Other white cells (called granulocytes and macrophages) then arrive to surround and destroy the alien cells.  They also have the function of getting rid of dead or dying blood cells as well as foreign matter such as dust and asbestos.

Red cells remain viable for only about 4 months before they are removed from the blood and their components recycled in the spleen.  Individual white cells usually only last 18-36 hours before they also are removed, though some types live as much as a year.  The description of white cells presented here is a simplification.  There are actually many specialized sub-types of them that participate in different ways in our immune responses.

Then there are the Platelets or thrombocytes and they work with blood clotting chemicals at the site of wounds.  They do this by adhering to the walls of blood vessels, thereby plugging the rupture in the vascular wall.  They also can release coagulating chemicals which cause clots to form in the blood that can plug up narrowed blood vessels.  Thirteen different blood clotting factors, in addition to platelets, need to interact for clotting to occur.  They do so in a cascading manner, one factor triggering another.

And lastly there is the Plasma which is the relatively clear, yellow tinted water (92+%), sugar, fat, protein and salt solution which carries the red cells, white cells, and platelets.  Normally, 55% of our blood’s volume is made up of plasma.  As the heart pumps blood to cells throughout the body, plasma brings nourishment to them and removes the waste products of metabolism.  Plasma also contains blood clotting factors, sugars, lipids, vitamins, minerals, hormones, enzymes, antibodies and other proteins.  It is likely that plasma contains some of every protein produced by the body - approximately 500 have been identified in human plasma so far.

I realize that may be a lot of information, but please understand that is a very basic understanding of the circulatory system. The reason I did this was to show you that these blood components could not form randomly but had to be created at the same time or the organism would die by infection, bleeding to death, not getting rid of waste products and-so-on. And think about where all this fluid is contained, in the circulatory system or the blood vessels. And if all the blood vessels in your body were laid end-to-end, they would reach some 60,000 miles! Not bad for pure luck!

Now these blood vessels are not just straight tubes, like water pipes.  They are helical and this is very important. You see, because of this gentle corkscrewing it makes the blood flow more evenly when compared to straight vessels. Thus, there is less damage from the turbulent flow! Again, not bad for pure luck!

Now we need to remember that blood flows through two separate circuits of blood vessels at the same time! The first circuit gathers blood from the body and sends it to the lungs so it can pick up oxygen and get rid of carbon dioxide. How long did that system take to evolve? The second circuit picks up the oxygen-rich blood returned from the lungs and sends it to the rest of the body. The problem here is that we were only given one heart so how can the blood pump in two different directions at the same time?

Our Creator, not luck, made the heart two pumps in one! One side pumps blood to the lungs while the other side pumps blood to the rest of the body. Now how does the heart pump blood?  The heart is a muscle but not like the muscles of the rest of our body that can fatigue and we have to think about moving them. The muscle of the heart has a pacemaker that the brain sends signals to in determining your heart rate and blood pressure depending on what you are doing! Pure luck? I don’t think so!

One other thing I want to mention here and that is a baby does not breath in the womb, his lungs are not used but he gets all his nutrients and oxygen and the removal of waste products in the blood by the umbilical cord and the placenta, which is attached to the mother. But the baby’s heart begins to beat at five weeks from conception. Where does the blood that is suppose to go to the lungs end up? There is a small hole called the foramen ovale that separates these two pumps but at birth, as the baby takes a breath, the pressure in the heart shifts and forces a flap over the foramen ovale to close this hole. How many babies died, how many millions of years of trial and error did it take for that hole to close? It did not take millions of years but our God created us that way! We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made!

Folk’s we have just scratched the surface and I do thank you for sticking with me on this because there is a lot of information here. There are many things we could have looked at like the chemical, cellular, tissue level. We could have looked at the skeletal and muscle system. We could have looked at the digestive system, the urinary system, the respiratory system, the reproductive system, the endocrine system and there is much more. But in saying that I think you can clearly see that for there to be all this information there had to be input, there had to be someone to put it there. Information does not come on its own. And thus, as you look at the human body and you see all the information that is encoded into the DNA I think you can clearly see that there had to be someone who input this information into it in the first place and there was, GOD!

It has been estimated that the odds against a single living protein being formed by chance alone is equal to the chance that a blind-folded man could locate a single grain of sand painted gold within a universe composed of fifty billion galaxies of two hundred million stars apiece composed of nothing but sand! So do you want to believe in the fairy tale of evolution or that there is a Creator, there is a Designer, there is a God who loves you and has made Himself known to you through His creation and through His Word? God won’t force you, it is your choice, but why believe in the tooth fairy when you can place your faith upon the living God!

It truly is as David said in Psalm 139:13-14, For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” If we know this to be true and I believe that every person does, then why does he reject this truth!

The reason is as simple as this. Listen to what Dr. Wald, the foremost biologist in this country, has to say and his words speak volumes.  He said, “Spontaneous generation was totally disproved 100 years ago by Louis Pasture. . . . That leads us only one possible conclusion.  That life arose as a super natural creative work of God.  I can not accept that philosophically, because I don’t want to believe in God.  I choose to believe that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.

Why does he want to believe in evolution, something that has not been proved and must be believed by faith?  Because he does not want to believe in God!  Folks that is not science but he is suppressing the truth that he knows and is promoting a lie, and in fact, it has become a religion to him. That is exactly what God tells us man will do when he wants to reject the true and living God, he will suppress the truth that is before him!

Paul, in Romans 1:18-25 tells us, For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

You see, they rejected the truth that was before them, they suppressed the truth that God has placed for them to see and because they have rejected God, God has given them over to all kinds of evil. That may not seem fair but it truly is! You see, if you don’t want God then God will give you over to do those things that are in your own heart, the evil that is in there and that is exactly what we see today.

Paul goes on to say in Romans 1:26-32, For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Paul lists some 23 things that are manifested in the life of a person who rejects God, the true and living God.  This is a result of what happens when you turn from God; it is a downward spiral, not upward.  Now, as you read the news, listen to the news or witness these things for yourself, man is like an animal today.  People can do the most heinous crimes without blinking an eye. They act just like animals!

You may not agree with me but I see it like this.  Man who is in fellowship with God has the Spirit of God dwelling in Him.  He is not controlled by the lusts of his flesh but by the Spirit of God.  Man who has rejected God, turned from God, is just like the animals that roam this earth, they don’t have the Spirit of God in them and they live to satisfy the flesh!

So why reject what God has given to us, eternal life that is a gift that is wrapped in Christ. You see, salvation only comes through Jesus, not man, not good works, not the church, only through Jesus. You have seen in the human body that it is not just random chance happenings, there is a God. Thus, don’t suppress the truth but receive Jesus into your life as Lord and Savior. If you have done this already, then exalt the Lord for all He has done and how He has fearfully and wonderfully made us and is continually thinking about us!

As David said, For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:13-14. And all I can say is AMEN to that! We are fearfully and wonderfully made by our God!
